Dr. Saud M. Al Harthi graduated from the College of Medicine (Sultan Qaboos University) in 1998. He underwent training in internal medicine and was awarded membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2003. He joined the Department of Endocrine and Metabolism at the Royal Hospital in 2004. Following that, he underwent higher specialty training in adult endocrinology and metabolism at King Faisal Specialty Hospital and Research Center Riyadh, KSA where he was awarded the Advanced Training Certificate in Adult Endocrinology and Metabolism.
After his return to Oman in 2009, Dr. Al Harthi joined the Department of Medicine at Al Nahdha Hospital, taking care of patients with general medical and endocrine problems, including diabetes. He is now the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, a role he has held since April 2014. He is also running diabetic clinics in polyclinics in the Muscat region. Until September 2014, he headed one general endocrine clinic at the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center.
Dr. Al Harthi actively participates in many Ministry of Health activities regarding diabetes and diabetes complications. He is currently the Chairperson of the National Diabetic Foot Management Subcommittee. He is also co-author of several papers on endocrinology.

Dr. Nada Al Sumri, MD, MRCGP (INT), is a consultant of family medicine at the directorate general of primary health care in Oman. She received her education at the college of medicine at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman (1997- 2004). Then completed her family medicine residency program at Oman Medical Specialty Board in 2010 and this was followed by one-year clinical training in diabetes care at King Saud University diabetes center in Riyadh, KSA. She holds the position of head of non-communicable diseases section at the department of non-communicable diseases at the ministry of health in Oman. Dr. Buthaina Ibrahim had graduated from King Faisal University, College of Medicine & Medical Sciences, in 1993. Dr Jawad Al-Lawati completed his medical degree at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK, and obtained his Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Maryland USA.
Since 1998 he has been working in the field of non-communicable diseases (NCD) in the Ministry of Health of Oman. He is the previous director of NCD department. His work has been on integrating NCD programmes such as the National Diabetes Programme in primary health care services, strengthening cancer surveillance and palliative care programmes, as well as working on the epidemiology of diabetes cardiovascular risk factors in Omanis. He is a senior consultant in the Ministry of Health in Oman and the rapporteur of the National Tobacco Control Committee.
He represents Oman in the Conference of Parities of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
Dr Al-Lawati has several publications in the field of diabetes and CVD epidemiology.
Dr. Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al Lamki, received his undergraduate degree from Ein Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He completed higher school education from King Williams College in the Isle of Man (United Kingdom).
He joined Ministry of health and work his way to his current position, Having completed is Post Graduation in Glasgow, Scotland, as the first Omani Endocrinologist.
Pioneered the clinical Exams in Oman, initially as MRCP and later on PaCEs.
Dr Al Lamki is a Fellow of the Royal College UK, President of AACE-Gulf chapter and in addition to heading the Medical Endometabolic unit at the Royal Hospital, he is also the head of the Subspecialties. He has been instrumental in conceiving and commissioning the first purpose-built center for Diabetes and Endocrinology in Oman (National Diabetes and Endocrine Center). Member of the Gulf Group for the Study of Diabetes (GGSD), with affiliation and collaboration with EASD (European Association for the study of Diabetes) activities.

Dr Monira Al-Arouj is a consultant physician, diabetologist and Assistant Director of the Dasman Diabetes Institute, Kuwait. She is a founding member of the Kuwait Diabetes Society (KDS) and the Gulf Group for the Study of Diabetes (GGSD), and a member of several International Diabetes Federation (IDF) committees on guidelines for diabetes management. She was a member of the organising committee for the 21st IDF Congress in Dubai 2011, and the scientific committee for the 22nd IDF Congress in Melbourne 2013. Dr Al-Arouj is deputy chair for the 23rd IDF Congress in Vancouver 2015, and she has been principal and co-investigator of several published and ongoing multicentre trials. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al Madani graduated from the College of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo. He joined Dubai Health Authority as a practicing physician at Rashid Hospital, before obtaining the Fakh Arts Certificate in internal medicine and endocrinology, in addition to the honorary fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh & Glasgow.
After returning from Germany, he joined the medical team at Dubai Hospital. Since 1993, Dr. Madani worked as a consultant of internal medicine and endocrinology, before being promoted to Hospital Director in 2002, in which position he continued till 2009. He then went on to act as CEO of the hospital till March 2014. Under his management, Dubai Hospital received the international accreditation certificate, and successfully carried out a successful conjoined twins separation operation.
Dr. Al Madani established and is currently the Chairman of both the Emirates Diabetes Society, and the GCC Group for Diabetes Studies. He has worked relentlessly to combat diabetes across the region, by educating the public, and through field visits to villages and remote spots in UAE. He has coordinated many educational conferences and courses regarding diabetes and endocrinology among medical staff in the UAE and GCC. Dr. Al Madani enhanced the position of the Emirates Diabetes Society at the International Diabetes Federation (“IDF”), as a consequence of which, the UAE was selected as the first country in the Middle East to host the IDF International Conferences in Dubai in 2011 and Abu Dhabi in 2017.
Dr. Al Madani received the Sheikh Rashid Scientific Achievement Award in 1988 and the Distinguished Employee in Administrative Fields Award within the Dubai Government Excellence Program in 2002.
Dr. Al Madani has published several studies and delivered many lectures in the fields of diabetes. He is currently the Editor-inChief for the “Living Positively with Diabetes” Magazine, a social initiative launched by the Emirates Diabetes Society.
